Living with and Beyond Cancer
Elevator Statement :
The Living With and Beyond Cancer (LWBC) Intelligence Programme is designed to help NHS organisations, Cancer Alliances, charities and support services better understand the needs of people who have completed their initial cancer treatment and are now living with the long-term physical, emotional and practical consequences of cancer.
Using the National Cancer Quality of Life Survey (CQOLS), together with NHS performance and demographic datasets, the programme identifies where patients may be experiencing the greatest burden of ongoing health problems, helping stakeholders target support, improve services and reduce avoidable deterioration in quality of life.
Unlike traditional cancer intelligence programmes that focus primarily on diagnosis, treatment and survival, this programme focuses on what happens after treatment and how people live with the consequences of cancer.
